その昔、とある国に行ったときのこと。

その街には、運河が多くあり
運河を渡る道路のあちこちに、車が路上駐車をしていた。
しかし、道路の両端には、柵のようなものはなかった。

路駐でミスったら、運河に落ちてしまうし
路駐じゃなくても、運転をミスったら、運河に落ちてしまう。

訊くと、「そんなものはいらない」という。

「そんなものはジャマだし、景観・美観を損ねてしまう」、と言う。
「道路から落ちるようなヤツが悪いんだし
そんなヤツのために、なんで柵が必要なんだ？」と笑っていた。


また、とある国の空港でのこと。

ビジネスクラスのラウンジで、飛行機を待っていた。
なぜだか、ものすごく居心地がよかった。
そういえば、ものすごく静かだった。

空港のラウンジというのは、落ち着けるようで落ち着けない。
というのは、「196便ローマ行き、搭乗開始しました」なんていう
アナウンスの声が、常に響いているからだ。
しかし、そこには、アナウンスが流れることはなかった。
気付けば、スタッフがうろうろと歩いている姿もない。

ラウンジを出るときに訊くと、「そんなものはいらない」という。

「自分でチケットを見て時間を見て、時間になったら
　自分からゲートに向かえばいいし、ギリギリまでいたければ
　ディスプレイの表示を確認すればいい」と言う。


なんて、大人なんだろう、と思った。
